Dig the lightsaber out of the closet and brush up on your Yoda-ese: Star Wars Day is this Sunday, May 4 -- as in "May the fourth be with you." Around the world, Rebel scum and Vader disciples alike will gather for Star Wars costume parties and movie-watching marathons. How anyone could sit through The Phantom Menace again though is a mystery. And in a pre-holiday announcement poor Mark Hamill has been awaiting since 1983, the cast of J.J. Abrams' upcoming Episode VII film has been revealed.

This time last week, I was already many hours into my day at Disney World's Magic Kingdom. A 4 a.m. wakeup call startled me out of bed, and by 5 a.m. I was outside the park with thousands of guests, counting down to the 6 a.m. early opening. In celebration of the start of a self-proclaimed "Monstrous Summer," Disney kept the Magic Kingdom, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure open for 24 hours straight, while promoting the release of its new movie, Monsters University. I was on-site – first in Orlando, then in Anaheim – for some live reporting.

Last year on Leap Day, California's Disneyland and Florida's Magic Kingdom opened their gates to the general public for 24 consecutive hours. The stunt squeezed an extra day of park going into 2012 – and prompted a sugar rush among Disneyphiles. Thousands of fans lined up before dawn. Crowds overwhelmed the park. Lines for rides grew past two hours long. Gridlock gripped the streets surrounding Disneyland.
