When Santa Rinpoche Came to Town
When I was young, I was a stickler for Christmas traditions. If my father forgot to wear the Santa Claus hat, I pouted. If we didn't watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," I cried. Disney's newest ship, which debuted in January 2012, is a sister ship to the Dream and has all the same amazing features, including a 765-foot watercoaster that whirls around the top decks, lots of wet play areas and nearly a full deck dedicated to kids' indoor playrooms with such high-tech features as a Magic PlayFloor (basically a giant video game you control with your feet). But Fantasy is no copycat. It also has an expanded, Europe-themed nighttime district and sundeck areas for adults, a large roster of Broadway-style shows and technology that lets you see your own creation animated as you dine in the Animator's Palate restaurant. The Art Nouveau-influenced Atrium Lobby is a beautiful space with a peacock feather-patterned carpet and extravagant gold-plated chandelier, with a bronze statue of Mademoiselle Minnie overlooking the scene.
