Where can you enjoy a tropical drink at an oceanfront tiki bar, feast on a freshly slaughtered pig at a luau, and watch sunset on a volcano? Maui is a seductive spring break destination where it's easy to lose your inhibitions. Lahaina, once the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii, is a lively town where you can get your bearings – and good food as you can explore the entire island.

Get the All-Inclusive Treatment: Grand Luau at Honuaula
Pay one price for a bundled food or drink experience

At the Grand Wailea Hotel's Grand Luau at Honuaula you can gorge on teriyaki glazed steak, macadamia nut crusted mahi-mahi, kalua pig and coconut cake, and drink as many mai tais and piña coladas as you like for $105.21 for adults and $56.25 for children 6-12 (and kids under 5 are free). Costco members can buy tickets for just $79 per person. The best part: The nine-act show, which features hula girls, fire dancers, and Hawaiian bad asses performing hakas on stilts.

See the Green Flash: Sea House
Where to watch the sunset

Sunsets in Maui are legendary, and there are few better places to park yourself for happy hour than Napili Kai's Sea House, which has discounted pupus and drink specials, overlooking glorious Napili Bay. Try the Maui Beach Balls ($9), which are stuffed with rock shrimp, corn, and cheese, and come with a wasabi vinaigrette and remoulade dipping sauce. Feeling more ambitious? Drive to the summit of Haleakala for sunrise or sunset at the volcano's crater.

It's 5 o'clock Somewhere – Here: Lehua Lounge
Where to get a great tropical drink

The Lehua Lounge at the swanky new Maui Andaz has comfy sofas and handcrafted cocktails -- including the best mai tai ($16) you've ever had. Sit by the fire pit for sublime views of the oceanfront infinity pools.

A great activity for kids and families

Every winter, more than 10,000 whales migrate from Alaska to the waters off Maui, and March is the best month to go on a whale-watching cruise. When you're standing on the bow of a catamaran in the sun, watching 40-ton humpback whales frolic in azure waters, you'll forget all about the nightmare winter you've escaped on the mainland. The Pacific Whale Foundation offers whale-watching cruises starting at $25. You can also see the whales for free from many beaches and lookouts on Maui.

Budget Beach Bites: Fish Market Maui
An affordable beachy or seafood meal

Fish Market Maui won't win many points for atmosphere -- it's a counter-service place in a strip mall outside central Lahaina -- but it's a great budget choice for fresh seafood. The fish burgers ($10.99) are Top Chef worthy, and you can't go wrong with the fresh fish of the day burrito ($12.99) or the seared ahi steak sandwich ($13.99).
