It's 5 o'clock Somewhere – Here: Anvil Bar and Refuge
Where to get a great tropical drink
Tucked in the middle of funky Lower Westheimer, Anvil Bar and Refuge began Houston's craft cocktail revival. Get your tiki drink fix here with classics like the Mai Tai ($10), Blue Hawaiian ($9) and Zombie ($12). Bonus: the bartenders can tell you the history of each one.
Closer Than Disney World: Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
A great activity for kids and families
Saddle up and show your cowboy spirit at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at Reliant Park March 4-23. A carnival, interactive agriculture exhibits, big-name concerts and rodeo action await. Kids will love the pig races and can take a shot at Mutton Bustin', trying to stay on a sheep for eight seconds.
Catch Some Rays: The Grove
A place to eat or drink outdoors
The Grove is an oasis in Downtown's Discovery Green Park. Up on the roofdeck, comfy sofas and wooden tables offer a panoramic view of the skyline and the park. The downstairs desk is an oasis in the greenspace, both perfect options to soak up the sun.
