Denver Spring Break Crawl: Things to Do Beyond the Colorado Ski Resorts
Get the All-Inclusive Treatment: Parallel Seventeen
Pay one price for a bundled food or drink experience
It's not often that you can get bottomless anything seven days a week. At Uptown's Parallel Seventeen, the pho (vegetarian or beef, $17) and brunch cocktails (available with purchase of an entrée) – try the guava mimosa ($12) -- are free-flowing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.
See the Green Flash: Peaks Lounge
Where to watch the sunset
Watch the sun dip below Denver's skyline and the mountains from Peaks Lounge, a bar on the 27th floor of the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center. If only all scenic overlooks came with chic décor (think brown leather couches and sophisticated earth tones), floor-to-ceiling windows, an extensive wine list and dessert.
It's 5 o'clock Somewhere - Here: Adrift
Where to get a really great tropical drink
Tiki culture is alive and well at Adrift, an oasis on the South Broadway corridor. Send your taste buds to the beach with a fruit-forward banana daiquiri ($8) or the Missionary's Downfall ($8), which is made with rum from Crested Butte's Montanya Distillers, peach brandy, pineapple, mint and lime.
Closer than Disney World: Festival of Balloons
A fun activity for kids and families
Balloon animals aren't just for birthday parties anymore. At the Festival of Balloons (Sunday, March 30 at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel), kids can view impressive creations: full-size dresses, animals and more, all made entirely of balloons. They can also take home some decorations to show off to their friends.
Catch Some Rays: Denver Beer Co.
A place to eat or drink outdoors
March in Denver can mean mild, 50-degree days -- or blizzard conditions. Regardless, you'll find people sipping a Rye 70 IPA or Graham Cracker Porter on the large heated patio at Denver Beer Co. The tap list changes regularly, but Denver's passion for brews is long-term.
