Discover Something New at Home in Cleveland

If you're heading home for the holidays, you'll find a city constantly changing, young people eager to play an active role in Cleveland's future and enough Christmas Ale to get you through the cold sting of winter along the shores of Lake Erie.
New Restaurant: The Willeyville
The Flats neighborhood on the banks of the famously flammable Cuyahoga River has seen its ups and downs. Once bustling, then dead and now revitalizing again, the Flats is home to The Willeyville, which boasts an informal menu modestly billed as modern American. The "chicken ate my chicken" stuffs chicken sausage into a half chicken with chimichurri. Chicken cannibalism never tasted so good.
Newly Hip Hood: Waterloo
Collinwood's Waterloo Arts District has come a long way from the days of Irish mobster Danny Greene and his bomb-fueled exploits. Today the gritty blue-collar neighborhood is on the upswing thanks to an ongoing streetscape project bringing in new restaurants, like Caribbean-flavored Callaloo Café.
Meantime, you can still grab a Great Lakes brew and catch your favorite undiscovered band at city favorite Beachland Ballroom amid the orange construction barrels of progress.
Word on the Street
Millennials are moving to the city for the first time in decades. They're opening new businesses and embracing car-lite/-free lifestyles complemented by public transportation and cycling.
Unfortunately, the entrenched powers are moving slower than many would like to accommodate change. In good news, the Warehouse District is working to bring "small-box" local retail to fill those awful parking craters in the heart of town by converting recycled shipping containers into shops. Beats the mall in the 'burbs.
