Air Canada Plane Wanders off Runway, Canadians Seem OK With It

After surviving the most innocuous crash in aviation history, passengers were forced to wait for roughly an hour before being shuttled back to the airport and put up for the night by the airline.
A passenger told The Star that the "people were very patient and had good humor," which is exactly the last thing a passenger would have said if the accident occurred at, let's say, Newark's Liberty International.
Crews spent Thursday night trying to move the plane off of the grass after it sank into the soil.

Don't you nimrods mean it ran off the runway? I guess it was either pilot error, or traffic controller error.either way, I wonder why these people would be "OKAY" with it.

August 05 2011 at 5:02 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWow! They were forced to wait (roughly) a whole hour! Seriously? I think Air Canada did a good job under the circumstances.
August 05 2011 at 3:18 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replywait a whole hour to be taken off the plane, to be held over night, rather inconvinient if you ask any one. does any one here know how to read?

They have either a small wheel or turning handle depending on the manufacturer. This device is used, only by the captain, until the aircraft has enough speed during the takeoff roll for the rudder to become effective. It is again used on landing after the aircraft slows to the point where the rudder is no longer effective.
