Agents failed to find anything suspicious and a smiling Rumsfeld was waved through.
Rumsfeld coyly tweeted about the incident, apparently speaking out against the profiling of bionic-Americans: "It takes those of us with two titanium hips and a titanium shoulder a bit longer to get through the TSA..."
His tweet linked to the inevitable TMZ image of an agent delicately patting Rummy's knowns and unknowns.
According to TMZ, the other Donald (Trump, that is) was seen waving to a group of soldiers while getting patted down also at O'Hare.
The patdown came as the TSA announced a plan to move launch a new screening system based on prioritizing the inspection of unknown passengers. A mixed signal?
At least Rumsfeld had a sense of humor about the incident. When TSA agents tried to pat down Alaska Representative Sharon Cissna, she took a boat home and began lobbying against the practice.

Even Rumsfeld was smart enough not to get extra radiation.

Sunday morning talk shows. He is an interesting and unique person.
Why would Donald Trump be getting a pat down? He flies by private jet! As does Al Gore, who believes firmly that the world will end if everyone else lives as well as he does.

July 16 2011 at 4:02 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySimply put most of the TSA agents are knuckleheads with limited IQ who cannot think for themselves. To pat down the former Sec of Defense is moronic at best and outrageous at worst. The Feds need to change the system and not treat everyone the same. A multi million mile flier, a 95 year old woman in a wheelchair and a 6 year old child present no risk. But the TSA treats all the same which is simply insanity. Then again, that is our bureaucrats in DC doing what they do best.

July 17 2011 at 12:17 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThese "terrorist" suppose able hate our freedoms and liberties?(couldn't be that we are invading all their countries and spreading democracy from a barrel of a gun) so what does our government do to protect us? They take away our freedoms and liberties, so I guess they won? Anyone notice how they had the patriot act waiting in the wings for reason to in act it? from our governments own words, "we need a pearl harbor to get this bill passed" Its all about control and they wont stop until they control every aspect of our lives.
July 15 2011 at 10:50 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe pat downs of Rumsfeld and Trump are the PERFECT examples of the ludicrousness of the current TSA administration rules. And also the perfect example of why the skies are not any safer! While they're patting down the two Donalds, who knows who or what was passed through security that shouldn't have been. A$$inine!!
July 15 2011 at 9:38 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyPatdowns are the goverments way of degrading you. The only dangers to our country have come from foreigners. So, now we have homeland security to protect ourselves from ourselves. Makes sense, doesn't it? Typical goverment scam. We are the cattle and they are the ranchers.

July 15 2011 at 9:28 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate downNone of those who perpetrated those heinous acts used an airport to get to their destinations. Could that happen in the future? Yes. Likely? No. Reason: Stupid to try to smuggle explosives through an airport, don't you think? Easier to rent a truck and stuff it with explosives. Kinda like the Blind Sheik and his minions did in '93. So, can you tell me one home-grown low life that used and airport to conduct their murderous activity?
