Richard Schair Seeks to Delay Amazon Sex Tourism Trafficking Lawsuit
TEXT SIZE:
AAAAccording to Bloomberg, Richard Schair filed papers on Wednesday seeking to delay a suit brought by four young woman who claim to have been "coerced into performing sex acts with Schair and his customers" aboard the Amazon Santana, a high-end river cruiser popular with wealthy American fishers.
Mr. Schair is requesting the case be delayed because the lawsuit is a civil case and he is currently the subject of a federal investigation. The case, when tried, will be the first trial allowing victims to seek damages under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, which is aimed at combating sex tourism.
According to Newsvine, Schair was previously indicted in Brazil for rape, corruption of minors and operating a prostitution network. He was suspected of supplying young women to a group of Shriners. There was photographic evidence.
Travel companies operating in out-of-the-way places - the Amazon being a prime example - frequently have the opportunity to misbehave without fear of their crimes being witnessed - something to keep in mind when checking out outfitters or planning for a trip.

The article starts "Richard Shair, a Georgia man ... " so it is interesting how all the comments villify the children, Mexicans (by the way Brazil and Mexico are different countries), illegal aliens etc. Not one, not a single one finds any fault with an American conducting himself in that fashion in a foreign country. Could it be that an American with names that suggest European descent can have no fault if there is a "lesser being" to blame? Shame on us.

No proof, of course, for this comment; only prejudice. If you actually want to know about sex abuse IN THE USA, check the statistics from the local CAC (Children's Advocacy Center) in your community.

Jail is not good enough, go back to the Bible and stone them to death. I'm not a church going person but I do remember some of my Bible lessens. There is so much evil in this world, the Bible also preaches forgiveness, how is a young person is suopposed to forgive when this will leave indeliable scares enmotionally and physically ?????

The "customers" in these out of the way places are Americans
