Strauss-Kahn had been under house arrest in the opulent $50,000-a-month town house at 153 Franklin Street in Tribeca for close to six weeks. D.S.K., as the French call Strauss-Kahn, was released from house arrest July 1 after the credibility of the Sofitel housekeeper who accused him of rape was called into question.
The sexual assault charges against him may be dropped.
According to the New York Times, a number of French tourists have made the home a stop on their New York itineraries. Some are Strauss-Kahn supporters, hopeful that he will return to French politics. Others are just curious to see the place so often broadcast on TV news back home.
"I saw the house on TV, on the newspaper, on the Internet," Francis Muller, a visitor from Paris, told the paper. "Obviously, I had the idea of coming to see the place. It's a real curiosity."
Patrick Arbet, a member of Strauss-Kahn's Socialist Party added: "We'd like to meet D.S.K. He's one of our friends," before setting out for Chinatown and Little Italy.

WE are Trillions of Dollars in DEBT,THANKS, to Presidents BUSH and OBAMA. It is time to do what is BEST for America and American Citizens ONLY! NO MORE BILLIONS, For The United Nations, Egypt, Libya, Packistan, and on and on! No more protecting others countries borders. Bring our troops back from South Korea and have them Protect Our Southern Border, Janet Napalitano! It is high time OUR Government, Both Parties, DO THEIR JOB and Protect The American People. Other Countries and Their People, ONLY Want America For What They Can Get, From Us. The time is PAST DUE, When We Should Stop Borrowing Money To GIVE TO OTHERS! July 09 2011 at 2:10 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down ReplyFirst, it won't cost anyone more to travel abroad if they stay here and enjoy the nearly limitless wonders of America. Second, this link was supposed to lead to a story about expensive foreign travel, not something about that greasy French SOBs townhouse. Oh my LORD these people are incompetent.

July 09 2011 at 1:38 PM Report abuse Permalink +5 rate up rate down ReplyThere are plenty of places to go and see in the United States.
Invest your vacations in the United States, don't be like the Obama's and spend your money in another country.
Keep Americans working stay in America because America has just as much if not more to offer than any other country.
The grass is not greener in other Countries.
People often travel internationally to experience other cultures, visit family and friends, explore nature in different environments, etc. I appreciate your loyalty to the U.S., but not everyone cares to limit their life's experiences to only one part of the world. Where would you be if Columbus had the same sentiments as you? Or any number of brave, adventurous souls who came before and after? Live a little. Life is too short to limit your experiences. And money isn't the only worthwhile consideration in life.
July 11 2011 at 7:46 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI am all for everyone paying their fair share of taxes. The forgotten revenue base is you 45% of the American public that pays no taxes but benefits greatly from the rest of us who do pay at least something. If we had some form of flat tax where the worthless freeeloaders in this country paid at least "something" for the lifestyle they enjoy here we would all be better off. Obama is the worst president in history. What a Joke.
