Airbus 'Invisible' Concept Plane Revealed As Future of Commercial Flight

Invisible planes? Not quite Wonder Woman invisible plane, but Airbus released media galore of their future tech transparent plane concept for 2050 as reported by the

On the newly launched Future Airbus Website, "A third of the people that took part in our global Passenger 2050 survey of 10,000 people said that they want the flight itself to feel like a holiday experience and to be able to access all the technological advances which fill their daily lives during the flight."

Who doesn't want a flight to feel like a holiday instead of the often cramped and uncomfortable haul usually associated with flying these days? At least if you're flying cattle class. Regardless lets hope Airbus paves the way with designs like these instead of Ryan Air and their "standing room only concepts," which thankfully haven't seen the light of day yet.

From a report on FOX, according to Airbus the plane won't have a bad seat (believe it when it happens) and will be divided up by first class, business, and economy, and "is divided by the individual needs of the passenger such as relaxing, playing games, and interacting with other passengers or people on the ground."

"Our research shows that passengers of 2050 will expect a seamless travel experience while also caring for the environment," said Charles Champion, Airbus Executive Vice President Engineering quoted in the Daily Telegraph. He continued, "The Airbus Concept Cabin is designed with that in mind, and shows that the journey can be as much a voyage of discovery as the destination."

Some of the future tech involved in the Airbus transparent plane concept are walls that change according to light conditions, holographic pop-up gaming displays and passenger's body heat powering in-flight entertainment.

Airbus is mum on the actual technology needed to make the transparent material, which the Daily Mail says is to be a plant-based skin.

Maybe some of the $5.7 billion airlines made on baggage fees could go into researching some technology actually geared towards the comfort of passengers, or invisible plane walls.

One can dream.

I will never use the toilet on one of those, nor want the seat in back of one.

let me get this straight - we are talking about 2050!? Are we supposed to be able to use transporters by then?! Talk about low ambitions!

Can't you just picture the guy playing golf smacking into the wall as the plane turns or hits turbulence?! For the bar - at least the pilots will have a place to drink ;0). Imagine the barf bag count & amount of hyperventalating from phobia challenged passengers?! if they do make the plane invisible?!

Wish I could get a job to dream stuff up that won't come into play for ~40 years.....

Just imagine how many more collisions we'll have since we'll all be flying around in invisible death traps.

How will they handle passengers who strangle the inconsiderate fellow passenger who talks loudly and long about little on his or her cell phone when others are trying to read, sleep, eat or watch a movie? It's bad enough going to a restaurant or the grocery store as it is. "Free speech," the inconsiderates will gurgle as their throats are compressed by many hands, and the police called on board when the plane lands find that no one saw or heard a thing.

with all this technologie they still cannot make it wheelchair accessible, where instead of getting out of your wheelchair that is custom fitted for you, they want to transfer you in a seat that not even a crash dummy finds confort in it.

I just hope you will never be in a crash landing sitting in your wheelchair. Your best chance to survive this event will be to sit with your seatbelt tightly fasten in the aircraft seat.

With all this yak-yak about 12/21/2012 (off topic really) what one needs to keep in mind is that the Mayan calendar is on a 5200 year cycle. which like any other calendar, starts over again. It may be the end of an age but certainly not the end of the world. Too bad so many use the mythology of the rapture as an excuse to ignore global warming and other ills of this world, because "God's gonna fix it all". The only thing that's going to bring peace and paradise on earth is cooperation among all peoples and plain old hard work.

This all sounds fine, but I would hope that the bathroom walls wouldn't also be transparent!

All you religious nutcases - does this mean I shouldn't plan on buying Xmas presents for 2012? Are there any special outfits that we should be wearing on that date? Is this "rapture" formal or informal?
