It just doesn't get better than this: A "mass brawl" that broke out on a Barbados-bound Virgin Atlantic flight ended with a woman in an arm sling and a black eye or two for one male passenger, the Daily Mail reports.

Twelve British holidaymakers, en route from London's Gatwick airport to the Caribbean island, had to be separated on the plane after a fight broke out amongst passengers.

It's believed that a group, seemingly celebrating "something special," got into a tiff about halfway through the eight-hour flight after one woman started yelling at another.

Passenger Elsa Brandford, 70, told the paper: "It was unbelievable, it was like something out of a movie. I was looking at it and wondering if I was still watching my in-flight movie."

Brandford said that one woman yelled at another, "You swore in front of child," repeatedly, her voice escalating in volume each time. The woman then reportedly yelled, "And it's my birthday."

"There was about five minutes of shouting while people gathered around and before I knew it they were throwing punches and jumping on each other. Most of the people involved were sitting in that area and just standing on their seats while throwing punches. It was vicious. It was frightening. There were punches going off in all directions...People came round to try to split them up and about half an hour later they had it under control," Brandford said.

Following the fight, all passengers were ordered to stay in their seats for the rest of the flight, with bathroom breaks allowed only after two hours.

Police met the plane upon arrival in Barbados. Police told the Daily Mail that "ten to twelve passengers" had taken part in the fight, but refused to provide additional information.

Surprisingly (or perhaps not?), this isn't the first in-flight brawl to occur on a Virgin flight. In May, passenger Danielle Bishop alleged that a man tried to take her clothes off mid-flight, leading to an altercation that reportedly cost up to $40,000 to the plane. In October 2010, a drunken brawl on a flight to the United Kingdom forced the plane to divert to Newfoundland.

Funny, these people are some of the same people that complain about "the youth of today" and "bad parenting". Perfect example of how our youth should act...NOT!

Not putting passengers on Virgin Atlantic any time soon.
Everyone is responsible for their own behavior. That's including Virgin Air if they do nothing about controlling unruly pax aboard their aircraft.
That is, PRIOR to any escalated outbreaks.
You stink at people control Virgin!
Try using a little morals and rule barriers.

People like that need to be blacklisted, and Virgin, nor any other airline should never allow them to fly again. They endanger the flying public. We have enough problems with aviation safety, without this sort of nonsence! It's disgusting.

I don't understand why alcohol is served on flights. If a person cannot go 10 or 12 hours without alcohol, they are indeed in a bad way. Drink water or something else. Airlines need to stop sering alcohol. (Oh but then they wouldn't make as much money.) Passenger safety is more important.

Certainly would take all the tedium out of those long flights.

Well, Brits ARE descended from Vikings, after all. A good brawl seems perfectly normal! :-)

Some, yes. (The great majority are descended from German barbarians and Celtic clansmen.) But if you go back that far, pretty much everybody but the Chinese and Italians are descended from savages.

My guess is that, for this group, you only need to go back a few years to find they're descended from chavs.
