Anthony Weiner Scandal: Spirit Airlines Introduces Promotion
TEXT SIZE:
AAA
Spirit Airlines
The Weiner Sale purports to be "Too Hard to Resist," but the single (half?) entendre certainly is resistible and the text of the offer ("Hurry to book now before this sale gets hacked") conjures a vision of cackling middle school boys.
The airline is offering round trip flights to several destinations in Florida from Boston, Chicago and Washington D.C. for $9, but only for members of the company's $9 Fare Club, who one would guess might see similar fares on a regular basis.
Spirit's previous (highly limited) sales have included: A Charlie Sheen themed "Living the Dream" special, an "Eye of the Tiger" themed Tiger Wood's affair sale, a "Hunt for Hoffa" promotion involving an interactive game and, in a stunning coup of poor taste, a "Check Out the Oil on Our Beaches" sale after the Deepwater Horizon disaster.
Congratulations to Spirit for continuing to be both low cost and low rent. And by the way marketing folks, no, not all publicity is good. Stop giggling.

This ad is disgusting. This whole controversy was released to take attenton away from the Repugs attempt to pirvatize Medicare, their game playing with the debt ceiling which is causing employers to hold off hir(they don't lke the uncertiainty .........talk to any headhunter or better yet job hunter or read the articles about the head of GM who asked that the GOP stop playinig political games with the debt limit and Wieners well founded accusations of ClanrenceThomas's conflicts of interest in cases regarding campaign finance. Yes Wiener's b).havior was foolish, but hardly illegal adn fairly innocent compared to the gay footsie senator or the Craigslist congressman who was soliciitng prostitution (both illegal and both GOP Breitbart is on the GOP payroll and took his orders to relelase this crap from someone in the OGP leadershp in COngress, If these pictures ddn't exist Andrew Breitbart would have made them up he is a master of fiction and a career sociopath.

June 08 2011 at 1:56 AM Report abuse Permalink -1 rate up rate down ReplyLet's see, I like both Anthony Weiner and Spirit Air, so what does that say about me?
First, I think while his politics are spot on, Weiner should don sack cloth and ashes and beg forgiveness from his wife and his constituents, and if they want him back, they should have him. If you remove all the scallawags, scoundrels and outright thieves who have sat in Congress, I'll bet the alumni meeting could be held in a closet.
As for el cheapo Spirit, you can't beat the $9 fares between Atlantic City and Myrtle Beach, even after they tack on $40 for tax, license, delivery, fees and oxygen. Use one of their credit cards and the club fee is waived each month. Since I keep a trousseau on either end, all I need is to carry my laptop, and at just an hour in the air, the teeny seats are tolerable.
Charging more for overhead storage than underneath storage is brilliant. Have you seen the little old ladies carrying anvils in their wheel-ons? One of these days, someone is going to be crushed by a bag that should have been checked.
Coming soon to TV comercials near you - Congressman Weiner piching Viagra!
June 07 2011 at 10:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe House Minority whip, Stenny Hoyer, commented on Congressman Weiner's predicament that Congressman Weiner would " Handle it. " Isn't that what got Weiner in trouble in the first place? The ad is great! I doubt, however, that many liberal Democrats will be flying Spirit anytime soon. Seems the Democrats can dish it out, but they sure can't take it. If Weiner had any sense of class, or even shame, he'd resign. If the Democrats had any class, they'd force Weiner to resign!
June 07 2011 at 10:13 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWho ever heard of Andrew Burmon and who really cares at all what he thinks! Obviously, the man is a democrat who doesn't take kindly to making fun of the hypocrites in that party!
June 07 2011 at 7:24 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYeah, this is so much worse than the Republican who was soliciting ******** in an airport men's room. Good thing there are no hypocritical Republicans. (massive eyeroll). As for who cares what Andrew Burmon thinks, you read the story and commented. I'd say you have shown you care plenty, jackwagon. But by saying you don't care, it makes you something of a, dare I say it, hypocrite. :)
June 07 2011 at 10:15 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down ReplyWhat was Weiner doing - giving a online class on male human anatomy? If it's a Republican who screws up, nobody screams louder for resignation than a Liberal Democrat. How many Liberal Democrats are calling for Weiner to resign? Their silence on this issue is thunderous.
June 07 2011 at 10:41 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate downI THINK THEY ARE CLEVER AND FUN AND ALWAYS LAUGH AT THEIR UP TO DATE TOPICAL ADS
SHOWS THEY ARE CURRENT AND RELEVANT
I don't think it is a big deal (I'm not insulting the Congressman just talking about the promotion). The jokes are never ending. How about a headline that says "Weiner Exposed" after he confessed? What about a headline saying "What a Weiner"? I could go on and on.
