Hold on, what? Yup. In Australia, prostitution is governed by state and territory laws. In some parts of the country legal brothels are allowed, but in others they are illegal, according to Agence France Presse.
The rooms, meant for group bookings (hello tourists!), will be part of a proposed extension to the Stiletto brothel.
The brothel lodged a development application has for an Aus $12 million (US $12.7 million) extension that will double its size to 40 working rooms and 21 waiting rooms, making it twice the size of its nearest competitor, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.
''Yes, we think it will be the biggest brothel in the country once the extensions are completed. It's a mixture of clientele: suits, accountants, lawyers, as well as a lot of top-end celebrities such as movie stars, sports people and rock bands,'' Michael O'Brien, of Artazan, which is managing the project, told the paper.
Chris Seage, a former brothel consultant, said he had been in a lot of brothels but was unaware of a multi-bed trend.
''It sounds like it's a facility for friends to go along in groups and book the room for a couple of hours, have a few drinks, play pool and do the deed,'' he said
Australia's history with prostitution is a storied one. The country has enacted various pieces of legislation regarding prostitution over the years. In 2003, American madam Heidi Fleiss famously went to Australia to toast the listing of the Daily Plant Limited, a large Melbourne brothel, according to The Age.

Sydney has arguably the best response in the world to the HIV/AIDS crisis. Sydney achieved the lowest rate of transmission due to ignoring prudery in favour of practical medical initiatives. That included legalising brothels to be able to regulate safe sex procedures are followed.
Now I know what " downunder " means !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
