10 Best Hotel Pools To Lounge By (PHOTOS)
TEXT SIZE:
A A AThere is nothing like arriving to a beautiful hotel with a grand lobby, plush accommodations, and multiple award-winning restaurants, only to find a pool that looks like it belongs at a Motel 6. To truly live in the lap of luxury, a pool should have an unforgettable view, should be heated to perfection, cocktails should be in abundance, and some kind of mosaic design doesn't hurt either. If a hotel is going to pay astronomical prices to have a pool, they should do it well.
These hotels have set the bar incredibly high. Boasting stunning views, private cabanas, bars, and year-round access, these are the gold standard of swimming. Whether on a family vacation, are with friends, or on a romantic getaway, there's a pool to fit every desire - party at the rooftop pool at the Standard Hotel in LA, gape at the view at Villa D'Este's floating pool in Italy, or enjoy the Art Deco design at the Raleigh's pool in Miami.
Here are The Daily Meal's picks for best hotel pools.
Villa D'Este, Lake Como, Italy
Lake Como, in Northern Italy, is a storied destination that plays host to some of the most opulent lakefront properties in the country. Villa D’Este has been the undisputed hotel of choice for jetsetters in Lake Como since it was turned from a private mansion into a resort in 1873. The hotel has 3 pools on the property, the most beautiful of which is their pool on the lake. Floating on the lake (and with a built in Jacuzzi), the views of the lake and surrounding hills are overwhelming.
What to order poolside? The Sundeck Pool Bar serves light fare like sandwiches and salads. The pasta of the day is the way to go, as it’s seasonal and always changing. Order a refreshing cocktail from the Terrace Bar.
Don't miss: Nation’s Restaurant News hailed the miso salmon entrée — inspired by Nobu Matsuhisa's famous black cod with miso—as the “Best New Menu Item” of 2002, and believe it or not, it's even tastier than the original. Also, the bartenders make gigantic, perfect, reliably ice-cold martinis.

I remember the Raliegh Hotel from my young days. In fact my cousins Don and Marilyn spent their
honeymoon there. That must have been over 50 years ago, and at that time, The Raleigh was not a new Hotel. Can't wait to drive down and see it.
The Pool at the building I live in is beautiful, but cannot be considered one of the worlds most beautiful
I guess you don't know about the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul, Turkey...

April 27 2011 at 5:29 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyUmmm Motel 6 dont have pools. lol At least ones I stayed at in my poorer days. I like the "Monte Carlo" in Vegas. Next to pool is a rapids ride where you lay on tubes and it whips you around it. In 108 summer days its wonderful.
April 27 2011 at 5:27 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYou are not even close! Those pools are boring compared to many others I have used. For example, some of the best hotel pools in the world are located at the resorts in Hawaii. The Hyatt Regency Kauai, the Hilton Grand Hotel in Maui, and other hotels in Maui are examples. Also, the pools at the Venetian/Palazzo and Ceasers Place in Las Vegas are better than those you show in the photos. I'm sure others will have their favorites at other locations around the world, but I'll bet they would not include some of the ones you chose.
