Fifty-six pilots who work for Indian airlines, including Air India, Jet Airways, IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoAir and Kingfisher, have failed alcohol tests over the last two years, according to The Age.

Ten pilots were fired following the test results, while 23 pilots from JetAirways were either suspended or faced a pay cut.

This has not been a good few weeks for Indian airlines: On March 9th, investigators for India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation found two pilots had forged their qualifying papers for a pilots license.

On Monday the Indian airline industry was hit by news that the licenses of 4,000 pilots across India were to be checked following several incidents like fake pilots found flying airlines with invalid licenses.
