Wilderness Wisconsin Dells

Wilderness Territory in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, encompasses so many activities on its 600 wooded acres that you'll find it difficult not to have fun, especially if you love water parks. When the Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort opened it in 1995, it had 79 rooms, an indoor water park, and two outdoor pools and a spa. Wilderness Wisconsin Dells now includes nearly 1,200 hotel and condo units, and eight separate water parks that cover almost 500,000 square feet of the property (half of that inside). Golfers can hit the links at the championship caliber Wild Rock Golf Club, and there are plenty of dining venues for all budgets.

Wilderness Wisconsin Dells lodging options include the Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort, the main resort; Wilderness on the Lake, a condo resort overlooking the 300,000-square-acre Lake Delton; Glacier Canyon Lodge, a condo resort adjacent to the main resort; and three cozier accommodation areas: Vacation Villas, Cabins, and New Frontier Condos. Lodging ranges from traditional hotel rooms to five-bedroom cabins – some of which have home theater rooms.

Golfing at Wilderness Wisconsin Dells means the Wild Rock Golf Club, which combines three different landscapes that will challenge even the most experienced golfers. Another option is The Woods Family Course, a par-34 nine-hole course built to offer an alternative for young golfers and novices who want a less intensive experience.

Wilderness Wisconsin Dells is most famous for its water parks. At the Wilderness Resort, guests can choose from three indoor (Klondike Kavern, Wild Waterdome and Wild West) and two outdoor (New Frontier and Lake Wilderness) water parks. Lost World is the outdoor water park at Glacier Canyon Road, and the Cubby's Cove water park at Wilderness at the Lake comprises both indoor and outdoor areas. All of the water parks are exclusively for registered guests, who can enjoy any of them no matter where they are staying on the property.

But there are plenty of other activities available at Wilderness Wisconsin Dells, including miniature golf course, horse-drawn wagon rides, a zip line, and fishing, boating and skiing on Lake Delton.

If all this builds up a hunger, there are plenty of Wilderness Wisconsin Dells dining options: the family-style Wild Canyon Café; Field's at the Wilderness – Premier Steak House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright protégé James Dresser; Sarento's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria; Monk's Bar & Grill; the Thirsty Buffalo Saloon; and Survivors Bar and Grill, a sports-themed bar.

There also are various "grab and go" options at Wilderness Wisconsin Dells water parks and coffee shops.

Much of Wilderness Wisconsin Dells closes during the summer, but there are still plenty of winter activities in the off-season, and the crowds are smaller.
