5 Best Photo Opportunities in Palm Beach
Lee Van Grack
Best Classic Photo: Worth Avenue
Worth Avenue, known as the "Rodeo Drive of the Southeast," is the most quintessential of photo opportunities Palm Beach has to offer –soaring palm trees, stylish shops and their fashionable patrons, fancy cars cruising the strip, and the Atlantic ocean beckoning at the end of it all. The buildings are typical of scenic Palm Beach architecture – a mix of modern and old-world Spanish colonial two-story constructions with red ceramic-tiled roofs, arched entryways, and open-air balconies dotted with tropical flowers.
Head to the intersection of Worth Avenue and Hibiscus Avenue to photograph the buildings against the ocean backdrop, or wander through the side streets to 4 Via Parigi, where you can shoot famous 1920s architect Addison Mizner's Everglades Club, a private club built to look like a Spanish mission.

Best Family Fun Photo: McCarthy's Wildlife Sanctuary
There are more than enough opportunities to see wildlife in Palm Beach, with the scenic Palm Beach Zoo and Lion Country Safari among the most popular of children's attractions. But no place offers the chance to get as up close and personal with the animals as McCarthy's Wildlife Sanctuary.
Founded by Mark McCarthy in the early 1990s, it serves as a refuge for more than 100 exotic animals that are injured, sick or have been confiscated due to illegal possession. Kids can get their picture taken holding snakes and baby alligators, and playing ball with tigers (don't worry, it's from a distance), and parents can get close-up shots of lions, panthers and exotic birds without any distracting railings or commercial signposts in the way. McCarthy's will provide you with some of the best photo ops Palm Beach has to offer.

Best Romantic Photo: The Breakers
The Breakers is an historic landmark hotel with some very romantic photo opportunities. Palm Beach's most prominent historic citizen, oil and railroad tycoon, Henry Flagler, hired 72 Italian artisans in 1896 to style the 140-acre property after a Mediterranean Renaissance villa. The result was a grand maze of hand-painted ceilings and tapestries, courtyards and gardens that welcomed U.S. presidents, European nobility and magnates like the Rockefellers and Vanderbilts as guests.
The hotel is included in the National Register of Historic Places, and has been attracting honeymooners for decades. Make it out to one of the oceanfront courtyards or beach bungalows for one of the best photo ops of Palm Beach's gorgeous sunset, or wander the elaborate gardens and towers for shots of intricate fountains and blooming flowers.

Best Quirky Photo: Blowing Rocks Preserve
The Blowing Rocks Preserve is a stretch of beach located on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and a lagoon. It gets its name from the phenomenon that occurs when waves hit the eroded limestone rocks that dot the landscape, shooting plumes of water through the holes that can reach as high as 50 feet. As you can imagine, this makes for some great photo opportunities for those interested in quirky travel photography. The best chance to catch shots of "blowing rocks" is in the winter during high tide.

Best Scenic Photo: Sailfish Marina
Shots of docked yachts, fishermen pulling in their catch and a sunset splaying red and magenta as pelicans fly into the horizon is typical of what you can capture at the Sailfish Marina, a complex that features a bayside resort, a restaurant and shops. You can see old photographs of the bustling dock from the 1940s, back when it was known as Bill's Marina, lining the walls of the resort.
The restaurant overlooking Peanut Island serves fresh local seafood and is one of the most popular places to watch the sun set over the scenic Palm Beach oceanfront.
