A brawl in a dance club has resulted in 10 passengers on a Carnival Cruise Lines ship being kicked off a cruise in Mexico.

The melee occurred on the 3,646-passenger Carnival Dream, the line's newest ship, during a western Caribbean sailing. The passengers were escorted off the vessel in Costa Maya, officials of the cruise line say.

While no serious injuries were reported, passengers blogged on CruiseCritic.com about seeing blood spattered on artwork and people wearing bandages.

The cruise line says in a statement, "A fight occurred on the vessel. It was broken up by ship's security and the cause of the fight was investigated which resulted in 10 guests being disembarked in Mexico. An 11th guest who was traveling with that party also opted to disembark."

Carnival says it made transportation arrangements for the 11 passengers to return home.

The line adds, "The safety and security of our guests and crew is of utmost importance and we will not tolerate behavior that could put any of them at risk."

There was no disruption to the itinerary of the 130,000-ton ship, which cruises from Port Canaveral (near Orlando).

How rude. I saw the actual situation. I talked to those involved & got the full story in detail. It amazes me how ignorant people can be these days. None of these people were "gangsters", "thugs", nor did they mug anyone.... Until you all get the full story or better yet, know the full story, do not judge these people. On Carnival's defense they had nothing to do with the situation, so associating the cruise liner with being one for the "more poor" class is ridiculous. All the cruise liners do the same thing, sail on top of water, but that's beside the point. Maybe if some of ya'll would stop treating the staff like they are trash b/c of their job maybe you would get some respect. I have never experienced any problems with Carnival & no I am no where near being of a "poor" class as you people wanna call it. Ugh, whatever. Don't comment on a situation you know nothing about. Better yet, mind your business.

I was also on the cruise for 7 days I must have just missed the incident after leaving at 2am, not only did I not see the incident I did not hear anything about what happen until that even at dinner so Carnival had to do something right because that was not the highlight of conversation people were enjoying their cruise..the only issue that I have with Carnival is that they should move the age up to 21 because a 18 year old cannot drink so why should they be allowed to party with real ADULTS...and the way they dance is unbelieveable that might be what caused the incident it was like watching kids have sex on the floor in their clothes......LET THEM STAY WITH THE TEEN DISCO.......It was nice to have an ADULT area to get away tooooo.........PEACEFUL...

@ Roz, I agree. I actually put that on the comment card before we disembarked, how the nightlife activities should be carded not just the club. There were youngins under 18 in the comedy club & i also put maybe the clubs should be 18-20 then 21 & up.

And yes, out of 4000 plus passengers, I only overheard 2 people talking about it.

good call by the cruise ship line. This kind of behavior in a closed environment can't be tolerated. Maybe the jackholes responsible will run into the mexico drug cartel and fight with them!

Laurie, you must have been an enlisted personnel. Didn't know we had you under the radar. Why didn't you voice your opinion assertively as you do on this comment board. Some of the best insight into decisions I made came from enlistees. Maybe you were just sore that you could not reach officer rank or go higher if you were.

Wow dude, you're exhausting! I'm glad you don't cruise Carnival anymore. To play it safe, it will now be the ONLY cruise line we travel with. No chance of ever running into you that way!

Have fun, Bubba. I am sure you will be around a lot of Bubbas on your budget cruise.

Hey Brace, you must be one of those that like to go to the breakfast buffet at 10 am with your bath robe on and your NBC bag strapped to your back while wearing socks and sandals.. oh yeah, you must be the one that also uses his dress blues to get free drinks at the piano bar...that seems to fit your no class personality. Oh by the way, your wife probably is one that thinks she wears the rank too, tell her not to park in the O-6 parking spot at the commissary, ok? So I will stay home, watch NASCAR and drink some beer until my next Carnival cruise!! BTW, leaves in 2 months!

I usually cruise on RC but tried the Dream last Thanksgiving w 13 members of my family due to the more affordable price. I was appaulled by some of the behavior I saw in unsupervised teenagers. Their behavior and language was the topic of conversation w most adults. When I was alone I must say I did feel a little unsafe. I have never encountered this on the 10 other RC cruises I have been on. However to hear security removed them improves my opinion of Carnival. I have seen many "bad apples" where alcohol is served in all types of places. I usually just remove myself. I may try Carnival again now that I hear security is on the job.

Bu the way Brace,
I used to sell cruises, from every line, and one thing we all knew about Raddisson, was that they spear the independent agents. That means if I get a customer to want to cruise with Raddisson, they would contact my customer and sell them the cruise for less, cutting out my comission. Raddisson is low class.
Also, anyone who is looking for the hoi paloi, that would be Seabourne, of course they ARE owned by Carnival. The three mainstream cruise lines are very similar in price, destination, and experience. There are minor cosmetic differences, but if you want true luxury, you must pay approximately 10 times the price.
By the way, who here knows that all cruise ships have a jail cell and a morgue?

I work as a pro DJ and perform at some very upscale gigs. I can tell you one thing: no matter how much class a person has once they get a few drinks in them they drop the class act and whatever they really are comes through. Carnival, whatever; it doesn't matter! Bon Voyage!

After reading Brace's comments and logic, I suddenly remember why I so disliked so many bird colonels in the military. Everything in their world is either black or white - no gray zone - and if you dare to have your own (thoughtful) opinion, it's as though you disobeyed their direct order on how to interpret the world around you. Sir ... the entire world is NOT a war zone & there are good and bad people in every group.

I have been on several Carnival Cruises. Most were immensely enjoyable. If I found someone's behavior questionable, I simply moved to another event or area of the ship.
