Hilton Worldwide says it will offer free high-speed Internet access to all its Gold and Diamond HHonors members beginning September 1.

Elite-tier guests will receive the benefit at more than 3,600 hotels in Hilton's 10 brands. Included are full-service Hilton, Doubletree and Embassy Suites and luxury Conrad and Waldorf Astoria properties.

"There is tremendous guest demand for high-speed internet access today," Jeff Diskin, senior vice president, global customer marketing for Hilton Worldwide, says in a press release. "By giving complimentary internet access to our Hilton HHonors Gold and Diamond members globally, we will meet our guests' evolving demands."

Hilton says its loyalty program has more than 26 million members.

Currently guests pay on average about $14.95 per day for access at Hilton properties, a spokeswoman tells AOL Travel News.

While other hotel companies including Marriott, Hyatt and Starwood have also eased up on Internet charges, at least for elite-level frequent guests, the spokeswoman says Hilton's program is larger and "involves more hotels than anyone else."
